Deciding on the best place to vacation in Mexico is a matter of determining where your interests lie and what you want out of this vacation. If you are interested in mainly experiencing the Spanish colonial atmosphere of the country, then the best places to visit are Mexico City, Guadalajera, San Jose de Allende and Oaxaca. In Mexico City, the ultimate way to see all the architecture dating back to the time of the Spaniards and the city monuments is to take the open top bus tour. Museums that tell the story of the country’s history can be found in all four locations.

The Baja region of Mexico is home to many resort destinations, such as La Paz, Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo. Here you will find miles and miles of sandy beaches and clear blue waters that teem with marine life. Go snorkeling or scuba diving to get a glimpse of the world that exists under these waters. Whales are found in large numbers, which means you can enjoy whale watching as they frolic in the waves. Water sports of all kinds abound and you can stroll throughout the towns to shop at the markets and barter with the vendors for the goods you want to buy. Depending on your interests, you can enjoy playing golf and tennis at many of the resorts or just sit by the side of the pool and relax.

The Mexican Riviera is a well-known tourist destination consisting of such destinations as Puerto Vallarta, Ixtapa and Mazatlan. These are all located along the pacific coast of the country. In this region you will really get a feel for the pre-Columbian culture as well as that of the Spanish Conquistadors. Enjoy the many festivals and parades when the streets are filled with music and dancing. Dine on the delicacies of chefs from around the world, visit art galleries displaying works of local artists and see the artifacts on display in the many museums.

Try to uncover the mysteries of the Mayan civilization when you visit the locations on the Yucatan Peninsula. Some of the destinations in this region are Cancun, Cozumel, Tulum and Isla Mujeres. In all the locations the resorts are located near the beaches and the sites of historic ruins. Tulum is one of the best destinations if you are interested in visiting ruin sites. Cancun is one of the places with something for everyone. It is the site of Aquaworld’s Jungle Tour, where you can drive yourself or take a guided tour. You can also experience an authentic adventure aboard a replica of a 17th century Spanish galleon. Isla Mujeres is an island off the coast of Cancun and is one of the best dive sites in the ergion. Even if you stay in Cancun, you can take a day trip to this island by ferry. Cozumel is famous for its coral reefs and f5riendly people. It is the one place you must visit if you want to visit wildlife reserves to see animals not seen anywhere else in the world.

There are many individuals who are interested in retiring to Mexico. Not only is it a beautiful country in many locations, it is also very inexpensive to live there, especially when you compare expenses to other countries like the United States and Canada. Mexico is a place a person or couple can retire confident that they will be able to live comfortably on their retirement income.

Of course, there are many different choices when it comes to retirement communities in Mexico. Many of them are simply glorified time-share resales, which may be something that you’re looking for anyway, especially if you plan to live in Mexico part time. However, if you’re looking for the best Mexico retirement community, here are some choices that cannot be overlooked.

One beautiful place that should be considered is the Lake Chapala area.

Small cities like Ajijic, Chapala and Jocotepec bordering Lake Chapala attract expatriats from all over. The environment in this area is considered by many to be the most beautiful in the world. The weather is practically perfect all year round and you have many different little villages that surround the Lake to choose from. Many of these villages have an old Mexico style that includes cobblestone streets and plenty of flowering trees to enjoy throughout the year. Not only that, the area tends to be rather tranquil and is a perfect place for somebody to settle in and retire.

Lake Chapala’s convenient location to the best of Guadalajara, Mexico’s second largest city, makes it even more attractive. Within a 45-minute drive, retirees have access to an international airport, museums, excellent health care, American-style shopping like Wal-Mart and Blockbuster, and an exciting night life. Add to that the fact that the cost of living is very low in this area and you have one of the best places to live all wrapped up in one.

With so many English-speaking residents in the area, you don’t even need to learn a new language to be comfortable living in Lake Chapala. (However, we recommend you do soak up Spanish; it’s a beautiful language and familiarity with it will only further enrich your living abroad experiences.)

Another choice which might be just what you need is to buy a timeshare resale in the Mexico area. Although timeshares are typically limited in the amount of time to join them, they do generally give you anywhere from 50 to 99 years worth of ownership. If you only plan on living there during your retirement years, you can easily find one which will accommodate you. Many of these timeshares are also able to be renewed once the expiration period comes to an end. The best part about it is that many of these retirement timeshares are actually in great areas of Mexico, close to everything that you could possibly need.

You certainly have a lot of different choices when it comes to places to retire. By choosing Mexico, however, you are retiring to someplace where your dollar will go further and you have a beautiful weather and surroundings all the time. By choosing the best Mexico retirement community that you can find, you will ensure that your comfort is set for the rest of your life.

While on vacation in Mexico, many people think that in order to participate in activities such as scuba diving, you must be an experienced diver in order to scuba dive. This is simply not the case. It is advised that you have some basic knowledge of diving and also be a strong and somewhat experienced swimmer. What is intriguing about scuba diving in Mexico is that you do not have to be an experienced diver. In Mexico, there are many people who go diving for the very first time.
The general idea of scuba diving in most areas is the same. However, with scuba diving in Mexico, what you will see underwater can be quite different and alluring by the prevalence of underwater animals and plants that can only be seen in the Mexico area. Below is a list of the top 3 reasons why you should consider your first diving adventure by scuba diving in Mexico:

(1) The Yucatan Peninsula: ‘Cenote Dive’
A ‘cenote’ is vast system of underground rivers, pools, and caverns. Many of these ‘cenotes’ can be found in Tulum in the Yucatan Peninsula. With an experienced guide, these ‘cenotes’ are open for swimming and cave diving. The Yucatan Peninsula is world renowned for its network of underground caverns. Diving in a ‘cenote’ is unlike cave diving and requires no certification beyond OpenWater. The reasoning that no certification is required is because you are never more than 30 feet (50 meters) from an opening. Imagine diving into a lagoon, with sunlight and trees sparkling through the clear blue water. These ‘cenote’ dives also offer snorkeling as well. These ‘cenotes’ make scuba diving in Mexico the ideal place to enjoy your first scuba experience.

(2) Los Cabos, Cabo San Lucas, Cabo Pulmo, The East Cape and La Paz
Baja California Sur, Mexico
The diversity in fish and marine mammals that congregate in this area of Mexico in unmatched anywhere is the Earth’s undersea domain. In this region, scuba diving in Mexico is unparalleled to any part of the world. Three major ocean currents collide here to create a very unique and varied sea life that is present in these fruitful waters. The California current, Panamic current, and the North equatorial countercurrent all interact together and bring an abundant population of plankton. This staple of marine life attracts the whole sea life food chain. This presence of marine life has caused the Sea of Cortez to be labeled the “World’s Richest Sea”. This is especially true for the waters that caress the southern tip of Baja.

(3) Puerto Vallarta, Mexico
Scuba diving in Mexico can also be a great adventure in the Puerto Vallarta region along the Pacific Ocean. Puerto Vallarta scuba diving is a rare treat as many of the nearby islands and bays, such as Los Arcos, Majahuitas. There is also the Marietas islands, which have been designated as protected underwater national parks. Between the months of December and April, scuba diving in Mexico in the waters of Puerto Vallarta will likely offer views of humpback whales, as mammals migrate to warm seas off the coast each winter. Whale sharks, dolphins, sea turtles, and a variety of tropical fish also make this safe haven their home. Puerto Vallarta scuba diving has become one of the hottest scuba diving locations in Mexico.
