  1. This is really well written and engaging textbook that can orient readers unfamiliar with Mexican history to the general trends and major ideas there. It is concise, well written, and a good mix of the general and enough specific details to allow the reader to understand basic terms in Mexican history. As a place to start into Mexican historiography, this is a good one.
